Introduction to Kayak
Course: |
This A.C.A course is held on flat water and are designed as a 5 to 6 hour program emphasizing safety, enjoyment and skill acquisition for the entry level paddler. The course content consists of the paddling environment, personal preparation, getting started, equipment, safety and rescue, strokes and maneuvers. |

Rolling and Rescue Clinic: |
This A.C.A course is held on a protected freshwater lake and is designed as a 3-hour course that is designed to be used with river and sea kayak hard shell, closed-deck designs. Students will learn the fundamental components of the roll and improve their bracing skills. |

Coastal Kayak Open Water Skills Course: |
This A.C.A course is held on a protective cove on the ocean and is designed as a 6 hour program. The content of this course covers J-leans, improving forward stroke, side slip maneuver, towing procedures and open water rescues. this course is designed to follow the Coastal Kayak Basic Strokes & Rescue Course or for the paddler who already has the basic strokes down and would like to take their paddling skills to the next level. |
Rescues and Bracing Course: |
This A.C.A course focuses on helping the student learn to travel safely and efficiently by kayak. There is more emphasis on self-rescue and assisted-rescue techniques and the stability strokes are introduced. |
Tidal Current Workshop: |
This A.C.A course focuses on estimating, reading, and maneuvering in currents up to 4 knots caused by tidal exchange around coastal contours in sea kayaks with bulk heads or flotation. Students will be introduced to the process of reading tide prediction charts, studying the water, and controlling the kayak in strong flow. |
Course Prices
6-hour course held on the Contoocook River is $100.00 per paddler.
6-hour course held on the ocean is $110.00 per paddler.
3-hour Rolling and Rescue Clinic on Lake Winnepocket is $65.00 per paddler.
Rentals
If you need to rent a kayak with PFD and paddle add $25.00 to the course price. The instructional kayaks are touring or sea kayaks.
Ratio
Our student to instructor ratio is 6 to 1. The maximum number of paddlers in a course is 12. Once over 6 paddlers, a second kayak instructor will be added to the course.
We required 4 students in a course to run a course.
